Matt Stairs retired from major league baseball this summer ending a nineteen year career that made him as likeable and as unassuming as anyone who played with him or against him for all that time. Matt Stairs put New Brunswick on the baseball map.

Brian McKenna

Brian McKenna has made hockey his business. After winning provincial midget championships as both a baseball and hockey player as a youngster, he got into coaching and won provincial championships at the juvenile and junior B levels, and lost in the finals at the Junior A and senior levels.

He was an assistant with the St. Thomas Tommies when his career took him to Ottawa and he got into pro hockey as the Director of Marketing with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League.

Dave Thomas knows all about the importance of athletics in school. Having an educator as a parent helps, but when that parent happens to be the principal of he attended, keeping that balance of athletics and academics was more important than ever. Keeping grades up and participating in four high school varsity sports is what helped Dave get awarded the “Male Athlete of the Year” for 2011 at Fredericton High School.
